Iacopo Bertocci (IB) was born in 1973. Since December 2018 he works at University of Pisa as Senior Researcher (until December 2021) and Associate Professor (current position). He got a master degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Pisa in 1999 (summa cum laude) and a PhD in Marine Ecology at the same university in 2003. He got two post-doc contracts from the University of Pisa until 2009. Between July 2009 and July 2016, he was hired as Researcher at CIIMAR (Centro Interdisciplinar de Investigação Marinha e Ambiental) of Porto, Portugal. Between August 2016 and December 2018, he worked as Researcher (third level, temporary position) at Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (SZN) of Naples, Italy. Iacopo Bertocci obtained the qualification as Associate Professor of Ecology (Italian Ministry of Research) in 2017. Since January 2016, IB is Associate Editor of Hydrobiologia (Springer, ISSN: 0018-8158). Although IB’s research experience encompasses several topics and organisms, his main interest is in the assessment of natural and anthropogenic perturbations in coastal systems. His recent research focuses on the experimental analysis of patterns of distribution of algal, invertebrate and fish assemblages from intertidal and subtidal habitats of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, and on how these are modulated by processes operating over a range of spatial and temporal scales. Through the participation, as both the principal investigator and a team member, to a number of national and international research projects, IB has developed a large knowledge also on the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, the ecological effects of introduced species and the assessment of the effectiveness of marine protected areas on benthic and fish assemblages. Iacopo Bertocci supervised one post-doc, four PhD and many master students. To date (01 February 2022), IB has published 77 scientific papers, with the following bibliometric indicators: Total number of citations = 2814 (Google Scholar), 1995 (Scopus), 1951 (WoS) ; H-index = 29 (Google Scholar), 25 (Scopus, WoS).
