Since 2020, Ph.D. Benjamin Dumont (BD) associate professor at ULiège – Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech. He leads the Crop Science laboratory and the Plant Sciences Axis. He is an active researcher within the GxABT research facilities AgricultureIsLife and EnvironmentIsLife, that aims to gather knowledges on the interactions between climate (and a fortiori climate change), management and crops with the purpose to promote the design of resilient and sustainable cropping systems. BD has built a strong expertise in the field of plant-soil-atmosphere interactions analysis, soil-crop modelling, cropping system analysis, the deconvolution of GEM interactions (Genotype x Environment x Management), decision support system building, and more recently field scale evaluation and modelling of fungal wheat diseases impacts. He is an invited member of the STICS soil crop model steering committee. He contributes to the MACSUR knowledge hub (Modeling European Agriculture with Climate Change for food Security). BD is also deeply involved in the AgMIP project (Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project), for which he is involved in different initiatives (Wheat, C3MP, Crop-Water-ET, Soils and Crop rotations, etc.). In particular he has lead the dataset analysis of the AgMIP Soils and Crop Rotation, where he worked under the supervision of Prof. B. Basso on deepening our knowledges of the carry-over effects of Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) content on cropping system productivity under climate change conditions. His current research interests deal with the improvement of the sustainability and resilience of agro-ecosystems, in the broader context of climate change, with the aim to maintain crop production while optimising water, carbon (carbon sequestration) and nitrogen (nitrogen conservation) cycles. All these achievements are recognized at the international level by significant publications in high-ranked journals and book chapters as author or co-author.
