Bio

Ben Harrison is Professor of Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience and holds dual appointments in the Department of Psychiatry (Deputy Head) and Melbourne Neuropsychiatry Centre (Deputy Scientific Director). Over the past decade, Ben has established the 'Depression and Anxiety Neuroscience' program: a research group devoted to the neuroscience of cognitive and affective processes and their role in mood and anxiety disorders – the most common form of mental illness.

His team conducts experimental functional neuroimaging research in healthy and clinical populations and has a primary interest in the development of treatment-oriented imaging biomarkers. This work has been supported by NHMRC fellowships and project grants. In 2019, Ben was awarded an Inaugural ‘Dame Kate Campbell Fellowship for Research Excellence’.

In addition to his research contributions, Ben has active leadership roles across the Department of Psychiatry; Melbourne Medical School; and Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Sciences.
