Human microbiome research is relatively young in the country, and detailed descriptions of the gut microbiome in well defined groups of Indians are valuable information for researchers in the field. The gut microbiome changes with age, and My work in this area provides information on such changes in Indians. The gut microbiome is increasingly being implicated in human health and in disease causation. My studies will increasingly focus on associations between gut microbiome signatures and specific health (Ex; implications of anemia & Iron Supplementation on gut microbiome) or other outcomes in children and adults, and the information generated hitherto will provide a background to develop hypotheses and for comparative studies.
