His research interests include development of novel nanostructured materials for applications in fuel cells, hydrogen generation and storage, solar cells, electrochemical capacitors, Li batteries, redox flow batteries, metal-air fuel cells, artificial photosynthesis, electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, biomedical applications, materials and chemistry, etc.
Dr. Fang has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers including 15 highly cited & 2 hot papers with collective citations of 9200+ and an h-index of 56 in high-profile journals such as Journal of the American Chemical Society, Accounts of Chemical Research, Chemical Reviews, Chemical Society Reviews, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Energy & Environmental Science, Progress in Materials Science, Trends in Chemistry, Cell Reports Physical Science, etc. He is listed as one of the world's top 2% scientists (ranked by Stanford University; a team led by Dr. John PA Ioannidis).
He also serves as an Associate Editor for RSC Advances, handling manuscripts in research areas of electrochemical energy, hydrogen energy, electrocatalysis, and photocatalysis. In addition, he is an Editorial Board member of Nanomaterials.
