Research interests
Auriol’s research focus stems from an observation formulated during her PhD that nothing in the living body functions as a singularity and thus to gain a understanding of the workings of the living body in terms of the complexity of the immune system and its reaction to external insult, it is useful to apply modified inductive reasoning techniques to achieve research outcomes in relation to pathogenomics. This paradigm is taken further to analyse not only the immune related interplay between the host and pathogen interactions in the pre-clinical stages of disease but also to probe the relationship of the immune system in response to pathogens or other insults such as animal welfare related stress responses to the livestock production process. In recent years this interest has grown to include the relatively new field of macrovesicle and exosome research which may enable insights to understanding cell-to-cell communication and the spread of disease within a host, leading to better vaccine formulations and biomarker discovery.
Auriol has a keen interest in increasing the number and diversity of students in STEM through mentorship and education.
