Bio
Astrid Ziemann received the Diploma degree in meteorology from the Humboldt-University Berlin, Berlin, Germany, in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University Leipzig, Leipzig, Germany, in 2000.
She was a Research Associate with the University Leipzig, Institute for Meteorology, from 1996 to 2004, before she assumed the position of a Junior Professor (Assistant Professor) of meteorology-remote sensing with the University of Leipzig until 2010. From 2010 to 2011, she was a Research Associate with the Leibniz-Institute for Tropospheric Research and Guest Scientist with the Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research, Leipzig, before she moved to the Technical University, Dresden, Germany, Chair of Meteorology, where she works as a Scientist and Project Leader. Her current research interests include acoustic remote sensing, especially acoustic tomography at various scales, atmospheric acoustics, and atmospheric boundary layer studies in urban, rural, and forest areas.
Dr. Ziemann is a longtime member of the German Meteorological Society, where she has held several offices. She is a member of the German standardization Committee to the outdoor sound propagation and acts as an expert Auditor of the national accreditation body for the Federal Republic of Germany.
