个人简介
Dr Annarita Mariotti is the Director of the NOAA Modeling, Analysis, Predictions and Projections (MAPP) Program, as part of the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) Climate Program Office, in Silver Spring Maryland. MAPP is a mission-driven research program to advance NOAA’s capabilities to monitor, simulate and predict Earth system variability and change. Under her tenure, the MAPP program has engaged over 120 scientists annually as part of its Task Forces; MAPP has led the organization of several community workshops and published numerous topical reports, in addition to the over 200 annual peer-reviewed publications by MAPP investigators; the MAPP program has productively engaged in intra-NOAA, interagency and international partnerships resulting in a significant contribution to the advancement of the US Global Change Research Program and the World Climate Research Program.
Dr Mariotti’s own research has focused on investigating water cycle – climate linkages in an interdisciplinary Earth system framework considering the broad range of processes and impacts relevant to the water cycle. Her studies have focused on understanding climate and water cycle variability and predictability on seasonal to centennial time-scales. Her work has contributed to a better understanding of aspects of the global water cycle, atmospheric teleconnection mechanisms, and of the impacts of climate variability on water resources and ecosystems. Advancing the understanding of climate variability and predictability in the European-Mediterranean region has been among her main research contributions. Most recently her interests have focused on the understanding of climate change and decadal variability and predictability.Over the years, her work has resulted in over 30 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and many book chapters contributions. Her research has contributed to the development of programs such as MedCLIVAR and HYMEX and to the works of the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC).
