I have a passion in genomics. I truly believe that it can explain the fundamental cause of physical appearance, disease-susceptibility and longevity in all life. Working in a biotechnology company teaches me that the creative use of technology can lead to wonderful discoveries. I work with many researchers from academia and industries, and together we develop tools to apply optical mapping and sequencing on a wide range of applications: constructing a reference genome for animals and plants important for agriculture, identifying complex DNA rearrangements in cancers, measuring uncontrollable expansion of DNA repeats leading to a form of muscular dystrophy, and discovering mosaicisms in brain tissues in dementia, to name a few. But what I find common among all the folks I work with is the eagerness of embracing new methods and tools to explore the unknown. And that eagerness is what motivates my work.
