A. J. A. James

I am a theoretical condensed matter physicist. My background is in low dimensional quantum magnetism and quantum liquids. I gained my MPhys from the University of Oxford in 2004 and a DPhil in theoretical physics from the same institution in 2008 (supervised by Prof. F. H. L. Essler). After my Doctoral studies I worked as a Research Associate in the United States at the University of Virginia and then at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). I returned to the UK to take up an EPSRC postdoctoral fellowship at UCL, before becoming a Lecturer at the Open University. I use a combination of analytical and numerical techniques in my work, often developing any necessary code myself. I collaborate with other theorists and with experimentalists.
