Bio
Dr. Andreas Theodorou is a Research Fellow at Umeå University and the CEO of the start-up VeRAI AB. At Umeå, he works in the Responsible Artificial Intelligence group, led by Prof. Dignum, in the Department of Computing Science. His multidisciplinary research focuses on the understanding and mitigation of the ethical, legal, and cultural issues and challenges that arise from integrating AI into our societies. In parallel to his research, Andreas is an active member of various AI policy initiatives. Prior to joining Umeå University, Dr. Theodorou has held teaching, research, and visiting research positions at the University of Bath (UK), University of Surrey (UK), and Georgia Institute of Technology (GA, USA). He completed his doctoral thesis, titled “AI Governance Through a Transparency Lens”, in Prof. Bryson’s lab at the University of Bath.
