Research Summary
My research investigates how the design of visual media can manipulate—for better or worse—the ways in which people think and behave. Particularly, I am interested in how the design of visualisations, interactive media, and game-based learning environments in science and health domains can help people resolve complex misconceptions that hinder future learning and decision-making. Through my research at the Knowledge Lab, my research has extended to the exploration of adaptive educational technology design for primary school audiences, such as through Open Learner Modelling (OLMs) and visual learning analytic dashboards. As a producer of visual media, my mixed-methods research aims to uncover empirical links between the design decisions that we make as creators and the cognitive processes that they support (or inhibit).
