Bio
My research focuses on issues in biomedical signal and image processing, particularly in the context of magnetic resonance imaging of brain function based on the endogenous blood oxygenation level dependent (BOLD) contrast mechanism. Maps of the spatial distribution of brain activation are computed from functional MRI data acquired during sensori-motor or cognitive tasks in humans, as well as from studies involving pharmacological stimulation of the dopaminergic nigrostriatal neural circuitry in non-human primates. My interest in imaging includes all aspects of the overall process from mathematical modeling of the interaction of the mode of interrogation with tissue matter, data pre-processing, formulation of the inverse problem, image reconstruction, as well as image post-processing and detectability issues.
