Ana M. Laxalt

Ana Laxalt studies the role of lipid signaling in plant stress, with a special focus on plant defense responses. She studies the role of the different phospholipases C and D in the perception of pathogens and the induction of defense responses, including stomata movement. She is interested in establishing the role of lipid second messengers in relation to other second messengers involved in plant defense such as reactive oxygen species, calcium and the gasotransmitters nitric oxide and hydrogen sulfide.
