I am a Lecturer at the Department of Life Sciences (Ecology) (University of Alcala, Spain). My research interest is focused on the effects of toxicants on freshwater invertebrates (e.g. behaviour, short-term effects, pulses, comparison of sensitivities between related species, etc.). Additionally, I'm involved on assessing how the invasion of exotic tree species alter leaf litter decomposition in freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems, and their effects on nitrogen cycling. I'm also interested in the ecology of the invasive snail Potamopyrgus antipodarum, which is a native species to New Zealand but it dwells in several aquatic ecosystems around the World.
