Bio
He was the Director of the UO Neuroinformatics Center for 15 years and is now the Director of the new Oregon Advanced Computing Institute for Science and Society (OACISS). Prof. Malony directs research projects and advises Ph.D. graduate students in parallel processing, high-performance computing (HPC), parallel performance analysis, and computational/data science across domain fields, including human neuroscience, geological science, and computational chemistry.
He has extensive experience in performance benchmarking and characterization of HPC systems and software, and has developed performance evaluation tools for a range of parallel HPC machines over the last 30 years. Prof. Malony and his research team are best known for the TAU Performance System, an open source parallel performance analysis technology used in production on large-scale supercomputing systems around the world.
