个人简介
Alfonso Emilio Gerevini is full professor ("professore ordinario") of Information Processing Systems at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Brescia, Italy, where he coordinates the Doctorate Program in Computer Science/Enginieering and Control Systems. His scientific research is in the field of Artificial Intelligence, that is also his primary teaching area since 1998.
From 1989 to 1995 he worked as a research scientist at Istituto per la Ricerca Scientifica e Tecnologica - IRST (currently Fondazione Bruno Kessler), Trento, Italy. In 1995, he joined the University of Brescia, where from 1995 to 1998 he was assistant professor, from 1998 to 2004 he was associate professor, and since 2004 he is full professor. During these periods he has also been a visiting researcher at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Rochester (USA) for about two years, and at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Freiburg (Germany) for about six months.
Alfonso E. Gerevini is associate editor of Artificial Intelligence journal (Elsevier), editorial board member of Intelligenza Artificiale (IOS Press), and program committee member of AAAI-2014 (28th AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence), ECAI-2014 (21st European Conference on Artificial Intelligence), ICAPS-2014 (24th International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling) and KR-2014 (14th International Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning). Previously he served as member of the editorial board of JAIR (the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research) and as a member of the program committees of many other international conferences and workshops.
In 2002, he participated in the 3rd International Planning Competition (IPC-3) as leader of the research group developing LPG, the automated planner awarded best fully-automated planner of IPC-3. In 2004, he developed with his research group an extended version of LPG that was awarded at the 4th International Planning Competition (IPC-4). In 2008 and 2011, he developed with his group PbP and PbP2, the planners that won the learning track of the 6th and 7th International Planning Competitions (IPC-6 and IPC-7).
In 2000 he was co-chair of the First International Summer School on AI Planning (2000); in 2006 co-chair of the 5th International Planning Competition (IPC-5) and co-chair of the Workshop on Preferences and Soft Constraint in Planning (ICAPS 2006); in 2009 program co-chair of ICAPS-09 (the 19th International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling, 2009); in 2010 chair of AI*IA-10 (the 10th Symposium on AI of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence, 2010) and co-chair of PlanSIG-10 (the 28th UK PlanSIG workshop on Planning & Scheduling joined with the 4th Italian Workshop on Planning & Scheduling, 2010). In 2007 he was an invited speaker at TIME-07 (the 14th International Symposium on Temporal Representation and Reasoning, 2007).
Alfonso Gerevini is author or co-author of about 100 published papers on various aspects of Artificial Intelligence. His main research interests focus on fundamental and applied issues of knowledge representation, automated reasoning and learning (especially related to planning), temporal and spatial reasoning, constraint-based reasoning and knowledge-based systems.
