He researches the interplay of individual practices, organisational context and information technology. His articles on digital work, social media, smart factories and digital innovation have been published in many leading journals, awarded with several best paper awards (e.g. by Vine journal, HICSS, ACIS, Bled) and have been cited more than 4000 times.
Prof Richter believes in the positive impact of engaged scholarship. Over the last 10 years, he was involved in more than 30 projects with leading companies and research institutes aiming to contribute to the design of digital workplaces and has facilitated industrial change projects for companies like Airbus, Allianz, Bayer, BMW and Bosch. For example, he led the requirements analysis in the major European project “Worker-Centric Workplaces for Smart Factories” from 2014 to 2018.
