Albert Ros-Lucas

Albert Ros-Lucas has a BSc degree in Biology, specializing in Biodiversity, obtained at the University of Barcelona (UB) in 2012. He focused on evolution, biodiversity and parasitology. Later he pursued an MA degree in Scientific, Medical and Environmental Communication by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2016), and worked in corporate communication and science dissemination in the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) from 2016 to 2017, and in the Institute of Photonic Sciencies (ICFO) from 2017 to 2020. His daily tasks entailed science outreach, internal communications, alumni relations and management of social media. In 2020 he pursued an MSc in Molecular Biotechnology at the UB, focusing on bioinformatics and immunoinformatics. He developed his master's thesis project at ISGlobal Chagas Initiative under the supervision of Dr. Julio Alonso-Padilla. Working in collaboration with the team of Dr. Fernando Rodriguez from IRTA-CReSA, he analyzed the protein space of the African swine fever virus so as to design epitope-based vaccine candidates for ASF. At present he is employed by ISGlobal Chagas Initiative as bioinformatics technician, where he is involved on several ongoing research projects including the development of an epitope-based vaccine for Trypanosoma cruzi, drug discovery for the same, and innovative epitope-based snake antivenom production.
