My PhD thesis work is in the area of Medical Nanotechnology and my specific research topic was synthesis of nanostructured thin films of biocompatible inorganic and carbon materials (TiOx/ZrOx/CNx) and their cell-surface interactions studies (Mammalian and Bacterial cell). My PhD research includes diverse areas at interface of material sciences-biomedicine such as wet colloidal routes to gas phase supersonic cluster beam deposition (SCBD) of nanomaterials and the analysis of their biological performances. My PhD thesis majorly includes designing recipes and protocols for the micro-nanostructuration of biocompatible thin films of solid state materials in nanochip format for biomedicine applications to control complex cell functions (adhesion/differentiation). I developed high throughput protocol in chip format to design gradient of nanoclusters with varying nanoscale roughness and morphology, where surface chemistry with topography can be altered independently. The designed biochip is compatible for high content screening (HCS) of protein-surface and cell-protein-surface interactions for quantitative structure property relationships (QSPRs) to establish optimal biological performance of any inorganic solid state materials.
