个人简介
Dr. Adeyinka Dayo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She is a clinician-scientist with interest in Diagnostic dentistry, community service, health disparities and inequality in health services to lower income communities. She uses a holistic approach with consideration given to psychological, neurological, social, financial, religious as well as physical status in patient management.
As an Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist her focus and research interest stems from the concept of “As Low As Diagnostically Acceptable” (ALADA) principle, finding ways to minimize radiation exposure to patients without diminishing diagnostic quality. Specifically exploring the use of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Photothermal radiometry and modulated luminescence (PTR-LUM) in early caries detection. Her research interest spans diagnostic imaging with focus on soft tissue calcifications that are evident using the Cone Beam Computed Tomography. Since the advent of CBCT in the early 2000, the advances in the detector technology and the dose sparing techniques have enhanced the imaging capabilities of the CBCT scanners hence her specific goal is to develop diagnostic strategies using small and medium Field of View (FOV) CBCT volumes and identify subclinical calcifications that are critical in the evaluation of stroke risk (Calcified carotid artery atheromas- CCAA). As a clinician radiologist she is continually researching and investigating clinical phenomenon encountered with patients. She teaches courses to the pre-doc students at the dental school using critical thinking skills to facilitate evidence-based dentistry.
