Abhay Devasthale

Abhay Devasthale received the Master of Technology degree in remote sensing from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India, in 2002 and the Ph.D. degree from Max Planck Institute of Meteorology, Hamburg, Germany, in 2005, working on remote sensing of clouds. From 2005 to 2008, he was with the University of Hamburg, Hamburg, as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Since then, he has been a Scientist with the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, Norrköping, Sweden, working on remote sensing of clouds (especially deep convection) and aerosols. He also uses remotely sensed data for climate monitoring and process studies. He is currently involved in the development of global cloud climatology from AVHRR sensors in the framework of EUMETSAT's Satellite Application Facility on Climate Monitoring (CM-SAF). Dr. Devasthale is a member of the European Geosciences Union and the American Geophysical Union.
