个人简介
My research focuses on the new approaches for polymer synthesis, creation of polymeric advanced materials, design of task specific polymers for target technologies, innovative ionic polyelectrolytes with high conductivity, polymeric composite materials, ionic liquids and fabrication of electrochemical devices.
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
• Development of new trend in polymer chemistry associated with the use of ionic liquids in synthesis and modification of polymers (including synthesis of polyimides, polyamides, poly(epoxide)s, networked polymers, etc.).
• Synthesis of more than 50 novel functional ionic monomers, preparation of polyelectrolytes on their basis and subsequent construction of first all-polymer-based organic electrochromic devices with fast switching time and high coloration efficiency.
• Preparation of novel single ion polymer conductors and their successful application for the creation of all- solid-state Li batteries working at 40oC.
• Design and creation of new highly conductive ionic liquids and their cutting-edge application as electrolytes in batteries and supercapacitors fabrication. Creation of new volume-based approach for predicting of thermophysical behavior of ionic liquids.
• Development of patented innovative networked polymer films with high conductivity and ability to stretch.
• Elaboration of patented polymer cross linked materials for solar cells (renewable energy).
• Preparation of patented rubber-thermoplast block copolymers for tire technology.
TEACHING ACTIVITIES
2002 – 2005: partial involvement in teaching the laboratory course in cooperative education program between D.I. Mendeleev University of Chemical Engineering of Russia and INEOS RAS, providing 5th year students (engineers) with a number of term projects in the field of polymer chemistry.
2010 – 2016: I served as a staff member and associate professor of the Laboratory of High-Molecular Compounds (LHMC) at INEOS RAS with two main responsibilities of conducting high-quality research, supervising academic permanent staff (including 2 Dr., 1 engineer) and students.
2017 - present: Prof. Alexander Shaplov received full ADR rights (Autorisation à Diriger des Recherches) from Doctoral School in Science and Engineering (DSSE) at University of Luxembourg for the supervision of doctoral candidates enrolled in doctoral studies resulting a Dorcotrate en Physique or a Doctorate en Chimie.
Supervision / direction of:
• 3 PhD students (2 Russian; and 1 Italian in joint supervision);
• 5 Master students (3 Russian; 1 French and 1 Spanish in joint supervision);
• 8 Bachelors (8 Russian).
Ongoing:
• 3 PhD students (at LIST);
• 2 Master students (at LIST).
OTHER ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
• Member of review panels: Netherlands organization for scientific research (NWO), Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), French agence natonale de la recherche (ANR), Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR);
• Invited Editor of special issues of High Performance Polymers (2016), Macromolecular Symposia (2016) and European Polymer Journal (2017-2018);
• Journal reviewing (~ 15 per year);
• Conference organization: "Modern trends in organoelement and polymer chemistry" (Moscow, 2004), 11th International Symposium “POLYCONDENSATION 2016” (Moscow, 2016).
