个人简介
Vinod A Prasad received his B. Tech. degree in instrumentation and control engineering from N.S.S.College of Engineering, Palakkad, University of Calicut, India in 1993 and the M. Engg and PhD degrees from School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2000 and 2004 respectively. He has spent the first 5 years of his career in industry as an automation engineer at Kirloskar, Bangalore, India, Tata Honeywell, Pune, India, and Shell Singapore. From September 2000 to September 2002, he was a Lecturer in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Singapore Polytechnic, Singapore. He was a Lecturer in the School of Computer Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, from September 2002 to November 2004, became an Assistant Professor in December 2004, and since September 2010 he is an Associate Professor in NTU. He also served as a Visiting Associate Professor in Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, during June – July 2013.
Vinod’s research interests include digital signal processing, low power and reconfigurable DSP circuits, software defined radio, cognitive radio and brain-computer interface. He has secured research grants from Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Defense (MINDEF), DSO National Labs, European Aeronautic Defence & Space Company (EADS) Singapore, Embassy of France in Singapore, UK High commission (Singapore), Singapore Millennium Foundation (SMF) and Air Traffic Management Research Institute (Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore), amounting over S$2.4 million as principal investigator. He has published 222 papers in refereed international journals and conferences. He has supervised and graduated 11 Ph.D. students and 1 M. Engg. (by research) student. Currently, Vinod is leading a research team of 3 Postdoctoral Research Fellows and 5 PhD Students in NTU.
He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Human-Machine Systems; Circuits, Systems, and Signal Processing Journal (Springer), Editor of International Journal of Advancements in Computing Technology (IJACT), and Technical Committee Co-Chair (Brain-Machine Interface Systems) of IEEE Systems, Man & Cybernetics Society. He has won the Nanyang Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2009, the highest recognition conferred by NTU to individual faculty who have exhibited excellent teaching practice and enriched the learning experiences of their students through their enthusiasm, care and close rapport. He has also been voted by students as the Best Lecturer (Year-2) of School of Computer Engineering four years consecutively – 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. He is a Member of University Senate, Assistant Chair (Student Care) of the School, and Member of University Teaching Council.
