Dr. Seki is an expert in treating spinal disorders, including spinal tumor, syringomyelia, spinal vascular malformation, and spondylosis. He also treats patients suffering intractable pain, involuntary movement, Parkinson disease, and spasm. With regard to his practice, Dr. Seki believes, “We have been treating and gathered diagnostic and therapeutic experience regarding spinal tumor, spinal arteriovenous malformation and syringomyeria. It is currently very difficult to completely resect spinal astrocytoma, so we are adopting novel method called “Radiation spinal cord transection” with the help of the department of radiology for selected patients and gaining longer survival period. We are also working multidisciplinary approach to the spinal intradural arteriovenous malformation, which is one of the most difficult cases in the group of arteriovenous malformations. We believe that there are the only university that currently has this type unique of collaboration of neurosurgery and neuroradiology in Japan.”
